Job description

Founded in 1982, MBI Industrial Medicine, Inc. is an Arizona based company operating five full service facilities staffed with medical professionals who provide the full spectrum of Occupational Medicine for employers and their employees and is currently looking for a Medical Assistant specializing in work-related injury rehabilitation to join their team!

The Medical Assistant will report to the Center Administrator and will assist in the operations of patient care including:

  • Greets patients and visitors and directs them accordingly
  • Excellent telephone and personal etiquette
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Tactful and diplomatic communication style
  • Obtains authorization as needed to process patients for services needed
  • Admits patients into computer or manually in accordance with urgent care or company protocols
  • Answers incoming telephone lines in accordance with company procedures and directs the caller accordingly
  • Schedules appointments
  • Checks in/out patients either in computer or manually according to procedure and distributes records according to protocols
  • Files paperwork, medical records and correspondence according defined procedure
  • Dissemination of all paperwork to outside parties including non-injury (urgent care) paperwork, custody and control forms
  • Obtain revenue by recording and updating financial information, collecting payments
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies and printed forms
  • Required to coordinate referral authorization with insurance companies and facilities
  • Helps identify emergencies and patients in distress
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patient anxieties and answering patient questions
  • Maintains front office and lobby area
  • Assists in back office as needed with the following;
  • Interviews patients for medical history.
  • Obtains vital signs, including: height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature.
  • Prepare examination rooms for patient care.
  • Performs routine procedures such as: venipuncture, injections, urinalysis, drug screens, and physicals.
  • Dispense medication per Doctors orders.
  • Keep inventory of Medicine and Medical supplies as necessary.
  • Cleans examination rooms and makes sure rooms are stocked properly.
  • Dispense Ortho supplies per Doctors orders.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments (Autoclave).
  • Performs Audio testing and Vision testing using the Snellen chart, Titmus machine and/or Ishihara book.
  • Cleans examination rooms and makes sure rooms are stocked properly.
  • Performs Spirometry testing as needed per physical requirements or when requested.
  • Performs Breath Alcohol testing.
  • Performs Drug Screens.
  • Performs Lift testing per company protocols.
  • Sets up trays for sutures and eye injuries.
  • Assist provider as needed.
  • Calibrate machines as required: Audio, PFT, BAT, Glucometer.
  • All duties as assigned regarding MBI/ORPT operations and/or needs.
  • Taking On-Call 1 week every 3-4 months.
  • Saturday shifts.

Skills/ Requirements

Communication Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate through written instructions and complete routine written logs and reports.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow verbal instructions, as well as respond to audible stimuli.
  • Must be able to navigate through EMR software.

  • Must be able to take On-call once every 3-4 months.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Current CPR documentation
  • Current Medical Assistant Certificate
